Memorial Day at Great Country Farms

We went out to Great Country Farms on Memorial Day and took Daddy for the first time!

There were newly born baby goats who were soooooo sweet and small!

The kids had a great time feeding the big goats pet feed!

We got one spiced donut strawberry shortcake to split!  It was delicious!

Afterwards, we stopped at the Bluemont General Store and bought 2 drinks (Vanilla Creme and Black Cherry), a ham biscuit for everyone and a bag of chips!

Dan was also excited to purchase these American Candy Corn.  They tasted like wax :(

Camping part3

After the hike and some lunch, the group played the traditional game of Capture the Flag!  Jason and Dan marked out the course through the woods with the swath of land where the power lines go through as no-mans land and each team had their "land" on either side of no-mans land!  It was a crazy game - and took a while to play, but it was fun and crazy!

 Listening to the rules

Having teams chosen - Dan and the girls were on one team while Jack was on the other team

Dan, Megan and Kylie's team with Jacob as the captain

Sprinting off to hide their flag and figure out a jail!

Megan hurt her foot and stopped playing after the first game.  She sat and cheered on the teams with me and Jessie

On Sunday morning, after a mini service, we headed to the lake there to swim and play!

Kylie enjoyed catching some more tadpoles

 So cute!

Then we went back, packed up and headed home!  She fell asleep within a couple of minutes - and was gone!

We had a wonderful time camping and would definitely do it again! (it did help that it was cool, not hot, not humid, didn't really rain too much Saturday night and there weren't too many bugs)!

Camping part2

Friday night was so cold.  So, so cold.  So cold that I was in Dan's fancy 15F rated sleeping bag with only my nose showing and I was shivering convulsively until 1:30am without being able to fall asleep and praying that our kids were warm enough - until Jack had to pee and I made Dan take him (we wisened up the next night and just told him to pee on a tree) - and then Dan threw his leg in his sleeping bag over me and I finally got warm enough to sleep!  In the morning, Dan built a fire to get everyone warm!  All the kiddos congregated over at our place to warm up and eat their breakfasts of muffins, donuts, fruit and yogurt!

We got ready to hike up to the top of Cunningham Falls - here's all the kiddos, minus 1, I think!

 Headed out on the trail

 Hiking down before heading up!

The three oldest boys were up on this rock...

Then Jack made it up with them!

Fun boys

And the rest of the crew started up after them!

At the top of the falls there was a fun pool of water and people started going in - all three of our kids eventually went in and under - but it was frigid!!!

Dr. Lee jumped in - and I got this great shot of him in midair!

After we hiked back down, Dan and Jason stayed with some kiddos who wanted to look for creatures - Kylie and Megan stayed to find some tadpoles and crawfish!

 So proud of her catch!
