Daddy Date Nights

During our getaway to Lancaster, we watched Courageous one night!  It was a great movie and Dan decided he would take each of our kiddos out on a Daddy Date over the next 3 Tuesdays before school started.  He took Kylie first!  They got to choose the restaurant and had a great time!

Kylie chose Olive Garden!  She dressed up in a fancy dress and heels and Megan helped her accessorize her outfit!  They both ordered Chicken Alfredo and loved it!  They enjoyed the all you can eat salad and breadsticks :)

Jack chose The Wing Factory to get wings with Dan.  Because it was a Tuesday, they got a Tuesday night special - 5 different flavors of wings on 5 wings each!  They chose Teryaki, Blugogi, Honey Barbecue, Old Bay and Hot!

Megan chose Sweetwater Tavern, because she has heard a lot about it and hadn't been!  They both got the chicken fingers but Megan ordered mashed potatoes instead of french fries!  They enjoyed the fresh bread, too!

Kiddos at Mom Mom and Pappy's

While Dan and I were in Lancaster, the kiddos AND Beau stayed with Mom Mom and Pappy! They were so nice to take not only our kids but our doggie as well!  They went on two fun expeditions to Gunpowder Falls and Double Rock Park, Megan and Mom Mom went shopping and Pappy, Kylie and Jack played a round of miniature golf!

After we got back to their place we took a walk up to a local school playground to play, like they had done while we were gone, to see Jack do American Ninja Warrior moves!

He and Megan did a great job at it!

He finally made his way around the whole playground without touching the ground!

Lancaster

Dan and I got away for 2 nights to Lancaster, PA!  We had 2 free nights to use at a hotel, so he set up the whole getaway!  Mom Mom and Pappy graciously took not only our kids but Beau as well for the days we were gone!  They used their precious vacation time to watch and take care of our kids and four legged friend!

We had a GREAT time!  We had a great hotel, enjoyed walking around downtown Lancaster, had great conversations, relaxed and ate delicious food!  We cracked up that traditionally Lancaster is visited by older people and families who want to view the Amish side of farming and outlets.  We only really saw the downtown, which was populated by hipsters :)

Originally we wanted to go do the Turkey Hill Experience museum with Mom Mom and Pappy, but those plans got thrown out the window when we got a dog :)  It was fun to drive by it, though!

Our first dinner was at the Lancaster Brewing Company!  It was AMAZING!!!  Dan got Maple Smoked Baby Back Ribs house-cut fries, cole slaw, hop hog spiked barbecue sauce - the best ribs he's ever eaten!  I had Petite Filet Mignons* horseradish mashed potatoes, mushrooms, onion, red wine demi - it was soooo good and so much food! The ambiance was awesome - it's located in some old mill or something, so it's so cool. Old floorboards, old working elevator, so fun! Dan also got one of their own beers - the Milk Stout and it was so yummy!

Such a fun, cool place with Dan's favorite ribs of all time!

The next day we went to downtown Lancaster to do some shopping and get some lunch!  We went to a funky place called Building Character, which had dozens of fun small shops in it! It also housed a Typesetting and Printing Museum and we were given a free tour and explanation of it! It was fascinating!

For lunch we want to a fun hipster cafe called "Commonwealth on Queen"! Dan got their special - a fancy grilled cheese and I got a BLT, which was soooo delicious!

Cute colors and salt and pepper shakers

And I loved this color on the wall, so I asked is they knew what it was - she went and got the paint gallon for me to see - it's Prussian Plum!

That night we went to explore a bit and found this cool park area with the amazing library above, a miniature golf course, pool, skate park, golf course and lots of sports fields! We LOVE the look of this library!  After exploring for a bit, we sat down and chatted while Dan had a cigar :)

Dinner that night was at Quips Pub - a British pub in downtown lancaster! We split a Scotch Egg, which I've wanted to try forever! It was awesome - I mean, a hard boiled egg covered w sausage and then deep fried? What's not to love!

Dan was looking foreword to a meat pie, but ordered Shephards Pie and enjoyed it. I got a Traditional Irish Boxty - a potato pancake topped with corned beef and a fried egg, garnished with grain mustard and a bacon jam. It was crazy and delicious! Dan got beer and I had their house iced tea, which was so good!  Yay for a trip with amazing, yummy food!

The final morning, we went to the Lancaster Central Market - one of the countries oldest farmers makers! It's located in a beautiful old brick building downtown and was so much fun to look through and see everything for sale - produce, meats, deli meats, baked goods, cheese, preserves, etc!

Then downtown was a Trombone Quartet playing - they were so fun to listen to!

Fun corn on our drive home

And one last pic of us on our fun and memorable weekend!

Crab Feast 2014

Matt and Tiff hosted the Crab Feast again this year!  It was cool that day - much like the rest of the summer - and we had a great time!  Rich and Rachel were there, Aunt Sheri, Tim and Sara and their crew, Mom Mom and Pappy and us!  It was a fun day with yummy crabs, but I hardly took any photos -because we had a puppy with us all day - but I swiped some of these pics from Mom Mom!

Lots of yummy crabs and drinks!

He was a good boy and did so well sitting under the trees while we ate crabs!  The kids loved seeing him and giving him sticks to chew on!
