International Day

This last week was International Week at school. Each day the kids got to wear a t-shirt from their country or another country and learn about different countries. Then on Thursday, they had the International Parade! Megan dressed up as a cowgirl and Jack wore a Boston Red Sox shirt (which was both American and Red, White and Blue)! Kylie wore her Crab Feast outfit and I wore my American Flag shirt! We went up and got to watch all the Elementary School kids walk in the Parade! We cheered on Megan and Jack and got to see lots of kiddos we know! I still love seeing all the costumes and enjoyed being there!!! We'll miss it next year :)

Marine Corp Ball 2010

Saturday night was the Marine Corp Ball to celebrate the Marine Corp's 235th Birthday! Ken and Amy took our kiddos for the night (their first ever friend sleepover) :) K. Nok at Smile did my hair and make-up. I chose to wear the same dress as last year because I loved it so much and figured if I got a new one made, it would be the same kind in a different color! So, aside from tickets to the Ball - we spent around $25USD on getting stuff drycleaned ($3), a new set of earrings for me ($12), a new purse ($5) and a new shawl ($5)! Not too shabby!

We had a fun night consisting of tons of dancing (Dan was a dancing machine), tons of pictures, hanging out with good friends and getting see everyone looking beautiful! It was the first year that non-Embassy employees attended...so we had friends from our neighborhood out here attend, too! We had a great night and were so thankful that the kids had a blast at Ken and Amy's sleeping on the floor with their kiddos - so 7 kids camped out in one room!

Happenings

After a loooong, loooong time of having it loose and wiggly, Jack finally pulled his first upper tooth free after church on Sunday!

We have International Week coming up at the kid's school. Jack had to color in a person with either the traditional dress of their home country or an outfit they like to wear. Jack wisely chose a Virginia Tech HOKIES shirt and cammo shorts! (and crocs and sunglasses)

Dan made it home yesterday! He missed a flight and then missed a connecting flight and could have been stuck in another country for days, but thankfully he was able to get a canceled seat and come home (later than planned, but still)! He brought us presents from his trip! (and we purchased that table there in the front of Megan and Kylie at a Bazaar yesterday)!

Soccer!!!

Seriously - Kylie is one tough cookie out on the field. After seeing this pic, I had to explain that you can't push with your hands on the field... :)

Saturday was our first soccer games! We arrived at the fields at 7:45am, had 2 games at 8am and one at 9:20 (which didn't start until 9:40) and we left the fields at 11:30am! 4 straight hours at the fields...sunburnt, hungry, tired and had a great time!

Because Kylie and Jack had games at the same times, Megan got to be his "Mommy" for the morning! She took him to his field, got his uniform, took him to get changed and helped him put his cleats on - then watched his game. I took Kylie and did the same!

Kylie did a great job, after a rough starts at her practices, and went after the ball and had fun! She finished quicker than Jack, so we got to go watch Jack's 2nd half, then Megan's whole game! Kylie and Jack's teams won and Megan's teams lost. It was fun though, and we'll be excited to see how the season progresses! I totally forgot my camera, so I only have pictures of Kylie, as another parent sent them to us!

Our Halloween Piggy Toes...cobwebs and bats flying over a full moon!

Then we got our toes done 2 days before Halloween...and I couldn't do "Halloween" anymore. I was done. But Kylie wasn't!

Halloween in Thailand

The kiddos on our gate

Me and my Tweeter

Dan and I got (kind of) dressed up for a game night in our neighborhood. The outfits were his idea. When he suggested it, I probably couldn't have been any more excited! The kiddos went trick-or-treating around the neighborhood and another neighborhood. It's insane! We go through over 1000 kids - all the expat kids come and trick-or-treat at our neighborhood because they know we have good American candy and then all the Thai's come because (a) they like gore, thus liking Halloween and (b) they like free candy! It's like Mardi Gras but with kid's in costumes!
