Hi, My Name is Kylie, vol. 5

...And I'm the Birthday Girl because today I turn 7 years old!!!

Job:  I'm in first grade.  I read in my classroom.  I also write in my journal.  My favorite parts of my day are recess, science, art and PE.  My least favorite part is having Spanish maybe.

Favorite things to do:  Play upstairs by myself.  I like to read.  I like to color.  I like to listen to music on the iPad.  Sometimes take a nap with Mommy if I'm tired.  I like to watch movies when I wake up on weekends.  I like Happy Hour and getting to see my best best best best friend Isabel.

Favorite Colors:  Pink, Yellow, Purple and Lime Green.

What I like to read:  Poppleton, Mercy Watson, some Chapter books.  Have you filled a bucket today?  My Jesus Storybook Bible.

Friends: Isabel, Gabriella, James, Sami, Sara, Alicia, Lydia.

Favorite Foods:  Macaroni and cheese, tacos, lasagna, pancakes w/ chicken, hot dogs and hamburgers, Smashed Chicken, hummus and pita.  Hot chocolate, peppermint hot chocolate and cherry almond hot tea.

Least Favorite Foods:  Asparagus.

What I want to be when I grow up:  A Momma.  A Ballerina.  A Guitar Player.

Favorite Shows:   Barbie, Arthur Christmas, Good Luck Charlie, Xmen - Spiderman - Avengers, Clone Wars, Jetsons, Tom and Jerry.

Favorite Sayings:  Can I go downstairs? Can I spit one more time (after brushing her teeth)?  Can I get a drink of water?  Can I have my own iPod?  Can I listen to this song? ...lots of questions AND lots of trying to persuade us when she doesn't like the answer we've given her! :)  We're praying God has a purpose and a plan for her persistence!

Things I did while I was 6:  Lost my first tooth!  Started ballet.  Began 1st grade and a full day of school.  Swam out past the breakers by herself in the ocean.  Went tubing on a river.  Started learning Spanish.  Got to play Mary in the Nativity Play at church.  Attended 2 weddings!

Why Mommy Loves Me:  Because I am her Bugga and will always be her baby no matter how old I am.  Because I still love to snuggle my Mommy (and her pink blanket that is now mine).  Because I am very caring and concerned about others - I cry if others get hurt.  Because I like everyone to have to follow the rules and I like making sure that they know what the rules are.  Because I'm I good helper in the kitchen and around the house - grocery shopping, drying and putting away dishes, soux cheffing in the kitchen.  Because I like to be with my family but am also happy playing upstairs by myself with Barbies or Babies or dress up.  Because I love my family and my family loves me.  Because I love God and Jesus so so much and they love me more than I know!!!

Happy 7th Birthday Kylie Grace!!!  We love you so so so much!!!

Christmas Day

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!  We had a great day today!  The kids woke us up around 7:30am and after I jumped in the shower, we headed downstairs to open presents!  We had a great pancake breakfast, opened more presents and then got ready to host 40 people for lunch!  We had friends from work over and also hosted 4 US airmen (2 guys, 2 girls) from one of the bases here!  Since they are over here, deployed, without their families, they got to spend the day with ours!  It was fun to get to know them a bit, chat with them and introduce them to Persian food - our lunch :)  We ordered food from a Persian restaurant for lunch - and had more than enough to feed everyone.  It was a great day with friends - including a bit of the Kinect late in the afternoon/evening!  After Facetiming family, we finished opening up presents, cleaned up and the kids headed to bed!  Merry Christmas to all our family and friends!  We love you!

Kylie and Megan made us all presents/drawings...here is one of the many she made for Dan and I :)

Christmas Eve

I feel like our Christmas Eve really started the 23rd because Dan came home a few hours early that day!  We got to check out a new playground, make sure our order for food on Christmas Day was all lined up and took Kylie to get an ice cream while the big kids were at a birthday party!  We've enjoyed working through our Adornaments on the 23rd and the 24th...and the names of Jesus - as we prepare to celebrated his birth!

Blue tongue for one of them :)

Jack talked us into opening our stockings on the morning of Christmas Eve so we would have enough time to play with what was inside.  He made a compelling argument, so we agreed :)

Winter Festivals

Megan, Jack and Kylie had their school Winter Festival's these last two weeks.  Jack and Megan's was last week and Kylie's was this week.  Megan and Jack sang winter songs with their grades.  Megan played some Christmas songs with the 5th grade Band and she also got to introduce The Night Before Christmas poem.  Kylie sang winter songs with her grade and also got to shake a jingle bell :)  They all did a great job and it was so much fun to watch them!

 Megan playing Good King Wenceslas

FYI - The parents at Megan and Jack's concert were INSANE!!!  We were 3 rows back, but a ridiculous amount of parents walked in front of all of us to take pictures and videos of their kids.  It was frustrating.  We tried to laugh it off for a bit and then it was just annoying.

Oddly, we thought that the little kid one would be better.  It was so much, much worse!  More parents, completely absorbed in their own little bubble ignoring the Principal or Music Teacher trying to get them to sit down so that they could start the Festival.  The kids were wonderful.  The parents were terrible.  Walking right up to the kids in front of every other parent there - so they could film their child.  Just crazy!
