Bear Hunting

 Dan went Bear Hunting with Supe.  It was crazy.  Supe's In-laws have a cabin and a permit to hunt bear, so Dan tagged along one day and had a great time!  The dogs wear GPS collars to track them and then when the collars show them sitting down (at the base of a tree where a bear has climbed up to escape them), everyone heads there to get the bear.  They walked maybe 2 miles through the woods to find the treed bear, then one of the guys shot it.  Dan, Supe and another guy had to drag the bear (who weighed 222lbs) back out the 2 miles over hills and valleys and terrain.  The guy who shot the bear then skinned it and took the meat and sent it out to get a rug made.  They will eat the bear meat all winter.  Dan had a blast going with Supe and doing something totally different than what he's done before!

Dan's 20th High School Reunion

We went to Dan's 20th High School Reunion for Perry Hall High School on November 1st!  We had sports in the morning, then drove over to Dan's Mom's house after them.  Mom Mom and Pappy watched our kiddos and Beau for the evening so we could attend!  Michael and Heather were going, too, so we figured even if the whole evening was a bust, we at least would get to hang out with them!

It was a fun night - great food catered by Bill's Seafood (a bull and oyster roast) and fun to catch up with some of their friends from high school!  We cracked up that the guys hardly remembered anyone (neither of them are well known for remembering people's names) and that everyone was unsurprised that they were still friends and still hanging out together :)  

Their other two good friends from high school weren't there, but we were looking forward to seeing their friend Jamie and finally getting to meet her!  She's a riot, was excited to see the guys and it was great to chat with her and meet her husband!

We had a great night carpooling with Michael and Heather and hanging out :)  We're glad we got to go!

Jack's 11th Birthday

Jack had a great, simple, easy birthday!  It fell on a Sunday, so no school but we did have church!  He requested French Toast Casserole for breakfast, his favorite meal of mac and cheese, hot dogs and stuffing for lunch and Papa John's pizza for dinner!  He loved spending the majority of the afternoon playing Destiny with Dan :)

Earlier in the week, he went out to get his birthday present and dinner with Grammy and Grandad!  He chose some nerf dart guns and went to dinner at Jersey Mikes to eat a meatball sandwich!

Halloween

We had a fun Halloween!  Willie Robertson, Sandra Dee from Grease, two Hokie Football players and Anna from Frozen!  I made Kylie's outfit and Dan and Jack bought Beau his first Halloween costume!

Dan sent me these first 3 pics of Beau as Dan had him at Grammy and Grandad's house building a ramp for Grammy.  He was tied up outside with Dan as Dan was using the saw.  Beau wanted nothing to do with it and hung out by the door.

Then he came inside and was too pooped to play too much :)

But the ramp turned out great!

The Men

Doug, Doug, Michael, Dan and Supe

Dan and his buddies got together for an overnight at Supe's cabin (really Supe's in-laws cabin).  They met 20 years ago as freshman at Virginia Tech and have been friends since.  Doug, Doug, Michael and Dan lived together at college and Supe was considered their unofficial fifth roommate :)  They all love the Lord, love their wives and kiddos (15 kids in all - 7 boys, 8 girls) and are so much fun to be around!  They had a BLAST together and can't wait to do it again!
