Lancaster

Dan and I got away for 2 nights to Lancaster, PA!  We had 2 free nights to use at a hotel, so he set up the whole getaway!  Mom Mom and Pappy graciously took not only our kids but Beau as well for the days we were gone!  They used their precious vacation time to watch and take care of our kids and four legged friend!

We had a GREAT time!  We had a great hotel, enjoyed walking around downtown Lancaster, had great conversations, relaxed and ate delicious food!  We cracked up that traditionally Lancaster is visited by older people and families who want to view the Amish side of farming and outlets.  We only really saw the downtown, which was populated by hipsters :)

Originally we wanted to go do the Turkey Hill Experience museum with Mom Mom and Pappy, but those plans got thrown out the window when we got a dog :)  It was fun to drive by it, though!

Our first dinner was at the Lancaster Brewing Company!  It was AMAZING!!!  Dan got Maple Smoked Baby Back Ribs house-cut fries, cole slaw, hop hog spiked barbecue sauce - the best ribs he's ever eaten!  I had Petite Filet Mignons* horseradish mashed potatoes, mushrooms, onion, red wine demi - it was soooo good and so much food! The ambiance was awesome - it's located in some old mill or something, so it's so cool. Old floorboards, old working elevator, so fun! Dan also got one of their own beers - the Milk Stout and it was so yummy!

Such a fun, cool place with Dan's favorite ribs of all time!

The next day we went to downtown Lancaster to do some shopping and get some lunch!  We went to a funky place called Building Character, which had dozens of fun small shops in it! It also housed a Typesetting and Printing Museum and we were given a free tour and explanation of it! It was fascinating!

For lunch we want to a fun hipster cafe called "Commonwealth on Queen"! Dan got their special - a fancy grilled cheese and I got a BLT, which was soooo delicious!

Cute colors and salt and pepper shakers

And I loved this color on the wall, so I asked is they knew what it was - she went and got the paint gallon for me to see - it's Prussian Plum!

That night we went to explore a bit and found this cool park area with the amazing library above, a miniature golf course, pool, skate park, golf course and lots of sports fields! We LOVE the look of this library!  After exploring for a bit, we sat down and chatted while Dan had a cigar :)

Dinner that night was at Quips Pub - a British pub in downtown lancaster! We split a Scotch Egg, which I've wanted to try forever! It was awesome - I mean, a hard boiled egg covered w sausage and then deep fried? What's not to love!

Dan was looking foreword to a meat pie, but ordered Shephards Pie and enjoyed it. I got a Traditional Irish Boxty - a potato pancake topped with corned beef and a fried egg, garnished with grain mustard and a bacon jam. It was crazy and delicious! Dan got beer and I had their house iced tea, which was so good!  Yay for a trip with amazing, yummy food!

The final morning, we went to the Lancaster Central Market - one of the countries oldest farmers makers! It's located in a beautiful old brick building downtown and was so much fun to look through and see everything for sale - produce, meats, deli meats, baked goods, cheese, preserves, etc!

Then downtown was a Trombone Quartet playing - they were so fun to listen to!

And one last pic of us on our fun and memorable weekend!
