Mini-Vacation Downtown

Last weekend we went and took a mini-vacation downtown to the Fraser Place on Langsuan! It is about a block away from Dan's work and we've wanted to take the whole family there since we came out 2 1/2 years ago to check out Bangkok before we moved out here! Dan walked over and got us a 2 room suite and a really great price! We stayed there Thursday and Friday night. Dan still worked on Friday, but was right across the street and we got to eat lunch with him! We had a great time, but quickly realized how thankful we are that we don't live downtown!

We checked in Thursday at 4pm and got ready to swim in their pool on the 33rd floor! There are 2 towers for the Fraser Place and they diverge at the 33rd floor where the pool is! They have high clear walls on both sides of the pool deck, so you have a view of the whole city! It's amazing! Unfortunately, it started to cloud up and then turned dark and began thundering! Kids out of the pool, we enjoyed playing a game of Ticket to Ride while waiting for the rain to slow down enough for us to walk a ways to the BTS station to take a sky train to MBK for dinner! We ate yummy food, looked around and then headed back.

Check out Dan's cool slippers he borrowed from the hotel to walk up to the pool! They are like paper slippers...

The kiddos and I with a really cool shot! That white building behind me is the Embassy :)

You can see the storm heading in while I was taking pics of the kids...

...then it looked like evil was taking over Bangkok...with the storm front!

The next morning, we ate a yummy continental breakfast at the hotel, then Dan walked to work! We have started a bucket list of things we want to do before we leave Thailand and one of the items was visit the Grand Palace! I know Dan didn't mind just the kids and I going there...so we got dressed in our appropriate clothes (long skirts/pants, close toed shoes and no tank tops) and took a taxi there! It was beautiful and amazing and we went in the Wat Phra Kaew (or the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, the most venerated Buddha in Thailand)...The kids did a great job and were so respectful! We enjoyed getting to see everything and then got a taxi back to the hotel, where we changed and headed to eat lunch with Dan! That night we got to see Dispicable Me in the theater and LOVED IT! So fun! Unfortunately the 2 big kids got sick that night...but we had a great time and knocked not one but two things off our bucket list! :) Thanks for taking us Tweeter!!!

Know the kids enjoyed their "getaway" and the Embassey is so neat, too.. Glad you are taking advantage of all that Bangkok has to offer.. Love to all of you! Mom xoxox

Very informative. You packed alot of good stuff into that trip. I liked being able to see the embassy out the window. Maybe you'll be able to do that at your next house. Hope this finds everyone well. Glad you made a bucket list. You are a great planner Kristen! You enable your family to live life to its fullest!
