Yesterday I got a call from the school nurse that Megan had fallen off the monkey bars at recess and they thought she had a broken arm. :( Poor Moopert. So, Kylie and I headed straight over to school to pick her up and take her to the hospital. Amy offered to take Kylie and have Jack head to her house after school, which was a huge help! Megan and I headed down to Bumrungrad.
The school had put an ice pack and splint on her arm, wrapped it with an ace bandage and then put it in a sling to keep it immobile. It looked like it was already in a cast and we had a bit of trouble at Bumrungrad trying to explain that she didn't need to see the Orthopedist, but that she needed to get a cast because she just broke her arm! They were great about putting her in a wheelchair (which Megan didn't want at first because she kept saying "My arm is broken, not my foot") to keep her from getting jostled or bonked. We saw a doctor, went to get x-rays, went back to the doctor, found out that she had broken both the ulna and the radius in her forearm, but that it didn't need to be set or operated on! She got a cast and a fancy sling! She'll be in a cast for 6 weeks (almost all the rest of school). She's in pain, but taking tylenol to help...had a rough time sleeping last night and is home today.
Megan's friend Punnava helped her to the clinic at school and told her that "Medicine is the best laughter" and then burst out laughing...Thankfully I had some funny pictures of Kylie on my cell phone to help out at the hospital when Megan started crying....little sisters are good for a laugh :)
Megan was about to start a 6 week unit on swimming for PE and is bummed about not being able to swim, not being able to ride her bike, not being able to play the recorder for music, not being able to finish her dot painting for art, not being able to cartwheel out of the sanctuary for the Easter program this weekend.... It's her right arm, so she'll have difficulty writing with her left hand and learning to do things with her left. Things she's not bummed about? Not having to do dishes and not having to shower by herself :)
Aside from having a broken arm - we had a good time yesterday at the hospital. It was a good time to chat and then we did lunch afterwards at Beirut (her choice over McDonalds)!

Wow, she looks like a trooper! I feel so bad for her not being able to do all of the fun things at the end of the school year. When are you guys moving?
Poor Megs! I hate that she'll miss out on all of that fun stuff too. Tell her we love her and are rooting for her. :)

Just got Daddy's call with the big news and had to check out the blog. It was so good to see your big smile in the picture Megan. You are a trooper! So sorry you are going to miss so many activities but you can still smile and cheer the others on which you are so good at! We love you! Welcome to our world of left handers!
Josh said you're the 4th person he knows to break their arm--it must be something about the third grade! We hope you're doing okay and we'll be praying for you. We love you Megan!
