The other weekend we finally got to swim in the Arabian (Persian) Gulf!!! It was one of the last things to check off our bucket list of things to do in Kuwait! The families at Chevron hosted us down at their compound for a beach day! It was GORGEOUS outside and in the 90's so not too hot (for Kuwait)! The water was beautiful and warm and so fun to swim in!
It was about 45 minutes south of where we live, so we borrowed 2 beach umbrellas and a cooler from friends, packed blankets and towels and sunscreen and headed down! It is not safe to swim in the water across from our house, due to pollution, but the Chevron Camp is far enough away from the city that it is safe.
Dan still had his mustache for the day - which I loved!!!
Our friends Ben and Sarah came, too! They got in the water right away with us and swam all the way out to the far end of the roped off swimming area! It made me so happy to swim all the way out there - Megan and Jack did great not touching the bottom for quite a while out and back.
Then we hung out in the shallow water and played with the Waboba ball, a football and a fishing net to catch minnows!
Kylie had fun playing in the sand with her little buddy Nick.

Jack's buddy Jonathan was there, so they had a great time together. They took out a kayak at one point and were not too far off the shore when we heard Seadoo Jet Skis roaring. Three Local guys FLEW threw the roped off swimming area - super close to swimmers, through the watercraft area, over the ropes and right near the boys in their kayak! Everyone was yelling at the Jet Skiers and then they doubled back and came purposefully super close to Jack and Jonathan...so much so that I thought they were going to run over the boys. I took off at a run trying to get to them and get them back on land, yelling for the boys. Some folks flagged down the Jet Skiers and yelled at them, explaining that the reason the ropes were up were to keep the Jet Skis out of that area and that they could have killed people. They didn't come back again, but it really freaked me out.
Jet Skis were allowed there, in the correct roped off area - and like any other place in the world you are supposed to go slowly to get the next group on. The above jet ski was fine and obeying the rules. Matthew took Sofia and Kylie out on the kayak - they were thrilled!
Me and Sara :) It was a great day!
