Pajama Party!!!

We had a great night last night. Dan took the day off from work to stay home and help get ready for the big party! We had 6 girls come, plus Megan, Jack and Kylie - Tricia came over to help everything run smoothly! When they came in, we had the girls make bracelets, then we had them decorate pillowcases with permanent fabric markers! I wrote each of the girl's names on the pillowcase and they colored it in. It was too funny that some of the girls were being so meticulous with their letters. After 10 minutes, some girls had still not finished with the 1st letter of their name - and had 7 more to go! They all did a great job and enjoyed getting to make their own pillowcase!

We played "Pass the Parcel" - which was a set of lip glosses that Dan wrapped in wrapping paper 18 (!) times! Kinda like Hot Potato, the kids sit in a circle, music is played, they pass it around and when the music stops, whoever is holding it gets to unwrap a layer of the wrapping paper and answer a question like "What is your favorite thing to eat at school? How do you say hello in 2 languages? Do you have any brothers or sisters?" and begins it again until the last person unwraps the lipgloss and gets to keep it!

After that, we played Pin the Pillow on the Sleeping Bag :) and then headed off for breakfast for dinner! Dan and Tricia made pancakes, Moo and I had made mini blueberry muffins the day before and we had fruit (watermelon, pineapple and dragonfruit) and juice! The girls loved everything, ate everything and really enjoyed it! Megan opened her presents and got lots of great things - a bunny from build-a-bear, a stuffed kitty cat from Littlest Pet Shop, a book on oragami and paper to make things, a craft board and junior pictionary! So fun! Kylie and I had made the cake and Moo and I made the icing - she chose violet, teal and yellow. The plan had been a bed with a pillow on it, but I couldn't find my fun thing for icing cakes until after the cake was iced :) Megan loved it anyway and it was very yummy! Such a good time, so thankful for my not quite yet 7 year old and for good friends to come over and celebrate with her (including Tricia)! Happy pre-birthday Moopert!

The Weekend

Friday night we had the Flagler's over - which hadn't happened in a month! So, that was great to catch up with them, go out to eat, play Settlers (Dan won, then Tricia - Matt and I were the losers) - and just be with them. Then Saturday, we had french toast and fresh fruit Mr. Matt and Miss Tricia brought the night before, for breakfast! Megan showed Matt and Tricia how she can write her name in Thai and sang some Thai songs for them - and they taught her how to sing King of Kings and Lord of Lords in Hindi!

Saturday, I met Matt, Tricia and their friend Amanda at GES (the school where they teach) and we took a taxi to Chatuchak - the world's largest flea market! It was great - and hot! The temp read 96 degrees, but with the humidity, it felt like 103. Don't take my word for it - that's what it said on weather.com. I got a cute, cute wastebasket for Moo's bathroom, beads for Moo's birthday party, an awesome scarf that I think will be used to make pillows in our living room (I wish I had bought 2, Tricia) and a candle that I liked there, but HATE here. So, it will be going as a door prize at church! I think other people like it, it's just not a scent for me (lemongrass - very Thai). Dan took the kids to ISB to the playground while I was gone...they had fun.

Sunday we went to church, had a yummy lunch at Burger King and took AWESOME naps from 1:30pm-4pm! Megan just read in her room, but the other 4 of us took great naps...they rocked. Now, we're just busy getting things ready for Megan's party on Wednesday!

Megan's Mini Pajama Party

Megan's Birthday is coming up on March 15th and we are in "go-mode" for organizing her birthday party! She will be having a Mini Pajama Party this Wednesday (because they have off Thursday and Friday) and we've invited the girls from her class and a neighborhood friend :) Sadly, no cousins this year.

We purchased white pillowcases and fabric markers for each girl to decorate. I'll write their names in block letters on each, then they will be able to decorate the rest of the pillow. We will make bead bracelets and have a "breakfast" for dinner - with pancakes, blueberry muffins, fruit, juice and maybe eggs. Oh, and a cake hopefully shaped like a bed w/ pillows. These are the plans, anyway. We'll see how everything turns out. Megan is thrilled and has planned quite a bit of it herself...and is very specific about the color scheme, what to have to eat, etc. Should be fun. In the meantime, we're just trying to get everything ready!

Jack's Kiss

To celebrate Valentine's Day, Jack's teacher had the kids make HUGE pretend Hershey Kisses. Then she had the kids in the class say something nice that they liked about each child. Many of them were - he is my friend, she shares toys nice, she has pretty hair, he is nice, etc. Only Jack's was different (the teacher had them posted on a bulletin board outside her classroom). His reads, "Jack is a good singer." It cracked me up and made me smile (and I think would have worried me if Jack wasn't such good friends with the majority of his class). I probably don't think of him as too much of a singer, since his sisters generally do it all day long, but it was nice for me to be reminded that Jack is a great singer (must take after his Daddy and Grandpop)!

And as a side note on Jack singing: At church the kids stay with us for the beginning of worship and then are dismissed to their classes. Jack still can't read, so it's hard for him to sing the worship songs. I love holding him in my arms and telling him the words right before we sing a line, so he'll know what to sing...because he's a good singer, you know. :)

Piggy Toes

Megan, Kylie and I went and got our toes done yesterday! Jack tagged along - because he had to. They only have 2 seats to get pedicures in - and I didn't tell them Kylie would be getting her toes done - so I asked if she could. The lady who owns the place set up a desk chair as a "special" seat for Kylie...she put a pillow behind her back and one on her lap and Kylie was so thrilled she got to have her own "special" seat! Kylie asked for green polish. The lady brought out 3 to choose from and Kylie chose all 3! So, she got different colors on her nails - and 1 very happy Bugga. Kylie kept saying, "How Beautiful!"

Oh, and then I had chosen the above design, but the basecoat was a darker pink on the sample board. The one the lady started to apply was a peach - which I wasn't a fan of. She had only done 1 nail and asked how I liked the color...I couldn't lie because I really didn't like it, so I said that I didn't. She took off that one nail and got this pale pink color - meanwhile Moo was sitting next to me and said, "Mah-am, you're embarrassing me." Really, she's only 6 1/2 - she ain't seen nothing yet!

Photo Shoot

I did a quick - impromptu- photo shoot with the kiddos this afternoon after Dan got home from work! Here are the winners:

Uneventful

That's what this weekend was. And I think it was okay. Dan had been gone last week and we actually went 2 whole days without leaving the house in the car...we swam every day while he was gone, so we did get out of the house, but didn't actually leave the neighborhood. I have to say that by this weekend, I was stir-crazy. We talked about going places, but I can't take kids to the places I want to go to get stuff for Megan's birthday party - mostly because it's too hot and too crowded. So, I have to figure out a time to get there in the next week. I can't even take Kylie because I'll just end up having to carry her, packages and my purse in the middle of chaos. Anyway, we did end up getting to IT Square to pick up something for Dan and got to swim both Saturday and Sunday with Dan - 1 time at the big pool near our church and 1 time in our neighborhood!

Kylie and I had a mini photo shoot last week - one she started off excited for, and then was just grumpy for :) She kept saying, "Mah-mee - no more pictures!" And I, of course, continued to take them. Kylie in Daddy's hat, Kylie standing in front of our window, Kylie "hiding" and her sweet curls!

Then, Dan shaved off his huge goatee...not completely, but trimmed it down quite a bit. I think it was the longest it had ever been.
