Phuket, Thailand - part 1

Holy Vacation Batman! We just got back from quite possibly our dream vacation (minus me still wanting to go to St. John's with Dan - didn't get there for our honeymoon and won't make it for our 10 year reunion next year which was the back-up plan. Now Dan's looking at 2020. We'll see.) ANYWAY, point of this post (and the ones following, I'm sure) is that we just got back from a 5 day trip to Phuket, Thailand! We stayed at an amazing resort - The Laguna Beach Resort , had a great room, beds for everyone, ate some yummy food and swam our hearts out!

It started on Wednesday, May 6th. Dan was off work and I had a bible study luncheon to go to, so he and Kylie had a "daddy date" of paying bills, taking the scooter to pay them, getting a slushie and eating a "special lunch". The special lunch consisted of macaroni and cheese with bacon bits in it, just like he used to eat for lunch all the time while working on the farm (and prior to us being married). Then they went to school to pick up Jack and Megan an hour early. Their teachers were in on the surprise (because the kids didn't know anything about it) and had them ready to go. All 4 of them came and picked me up and the moment I got in the car, the big kids were asking what their surprise was! They asked if it was a treat they could eat at home (no), a place we were going (yes), a place they had been to before (no), Virginia (NO!) and finally Megan said, "I know, is it Phuket?" YES!!! (She had overheard a conversation the other week that I had with someone at church about us going to Phuket and I convinced her it was a surprise to everyone else, including Daddy (although he knew about it)).

The kids were sooooo excited and we told them we were going to run home, change, grab our backpacks and head out in a taxi to the airport! Dan had arranged for the fancy taxi he normally uses on trips to come and pick us up - and it was so fun for us to get to ride to the airport like Daddy normally gets to! About 20 minutes into the ride, all 4 of us in the backseat were sound asleep :) We did a great job getting to the airport, through it and onto our plane! We landed in Phuket safely and loved getting to see our hotel and where we would be staying!

We'll fill in more tomorrow, but for right now, the evening of Mother's Day - I got to spend the day with my 4 favorite people, wake up in Phuket and eat dinner at Que Pasa. Not too shabby.
