Phuket, Thailand - part 4

Mena. Oh Mena. The hotel had 2 baby elephants you could feed. Mena was a baby baby elephant - the smallest I've ever seen and then they had another one who was a lot bigger and we only saw once. Mena we fed every morning and saw her one afternoon. She was so sweet, could bow and raise her trunk and liked eating bananas from our hands. We were all smitten and timed the finishing of our breakfast to coincide with Mena's breakfast so we could feed her!

The other interesting/frustrating thing was that, because this is a 5-star resort, the cost of food/drinks was exorbitant. Seriously. We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant the first night (because we got in at 7pm and the kids needed to eat) - and ordered 2 small cheese pizzas, a salad, an appetizer and a large bottle of water. It cost us $42USD. The large bottle of water would cost around 35B in Bangkok, there it cost 255B. That is $7.28USD for a bottle of water! Luckily we were told by a friend about a Thai restaurant down on the beach, so we went there for dinner every other night and found a Mini-mart where we purchased a pack of cheese, peanut butter and jelly for the other lunches. We also realized that there were little huts on the beach that sold drinks/snacks and were significantly cheaper than the hotel. The Thai restaurant (Tom Yam Goong) was pretty good, the kids enjoyed it and it was right on the water so we got to be 30 feet or so from the waves every night :)

Kristen,
I give you a lot of credit for taking the time to post on here for all of us. It will be a wonderful thing to look back upon when the kids grow up. Love the pictures especially the one of all of you. Never have seen a baby elephant so cute or so small. It seems as if we are in Thailand getting to see all of these things, too. How fun! Love, Mom xoxo

So just wondering, why the pictures of John Travolta and Tom Cruise over to the side of Megan and Jack and the elephant? Did they visit Phuket too? :)
